Our sign has a special meaning to the council and is dedicated to the two people that made it possible. Emile “Sid” Noga was a member of the Spencer Council No. 118 of the Knights of Columbus for over forty-three years when his wife Elizabeth “Betty” Noga passed away. The two of them were inseparable and when she died Sid was devastated. He wanted to do something special to honor Betty so he thought a sign at the council with a plaque honoring her was the best thing he could do. Well suffice it to say that the sign to Betty never happened because of various issues that come up and when Sid died before the signed was done, the council felt at a loss. Sid’s dedication to the Knights even followed him after death. Sid and his family made a gracious donation to the council and with the donation and a couple of fund raisers we able to get Sid’s sign. We are certain that if Sid was here today he would be so pleased to see the sign and that it was dedicated to Betty. And we are also certain Sid would probably be upset at the council for including his name. He was not one who liked being in the spot light for any reason. Well Sid, tough. Your name is going to be there along with Betty. There could not be a more fitting way to remember the two people that really showed what the Knights of Columbus was all about. Sid and Betty will be with us for a long time to come.
