Habitat Happenings
Building More than Houses
 |
In January 2006, HFHNCC kicked off its first ever major fundraising campaign. The goal of the campaign is to raise a minimum of $6,000,000 to help HFHNCC bridge the gap between its previous production level (10 homes a year) and its current production of 21+ homes a year. To date HFHNCC has raised almost $5,500,000 thanks to the generous support of many individuals, corporations, churches and other organization in our community. Please consider joining this important milestone in the life of our affiliate by making a five-year pledge! All checks should note More than Houses in the memo line.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
- Family Support Partners: Want to get to know the prospective homeowners who are central to our work at Habitat? Support partners assist our partner families through the processes and responsibilities involved with becoming homeowners. This position involves attending monthly meetings with other partners and prospective homeowners. It also involves keeping in touch by phone or email between meetings, as needed. This is an excellent opportunity to build a relationship with a partner family, and offer a meaningful contribution to Habitat.
- Lunch Providers: Better at cooking than caulking? If you are looking for a fun way to plug into Habitat or looking for an activity for ALL ages, consider providing lunches for our Saturday volunteers. Groups or individuals purchase and prepare lunches (usually sandwiches or a simple meal for 25 30 volunteers) and deliver them to the site at 11:45 am on Saturday. Lunch is served at Noon and cleanup is usually finished by 1:00 pm. Guaranteed to win you instant love and affection, we hope you volunteer your talents soon!
- Skilled Construction Volunteers: Do you have experience in construction? Do you enjoy helping others learn? Habitat for Humanity is seeking skilled construction volunteers to help lead small groups of unskilled volunteers in carpentry, siding, drywall, and finish work at its current and future building sites in Wilmington and Middletown. Construction runs from 8:15 AM to 3 PM on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays; assistance is particularly needed on Saturdays. Site Supervisors are always on site to manage the entire process, but Crew Leaders help them to manage the site more effectively. Opportunities are available on a sporadic or regular basis. Help Habitat build more homes in 2006 by sharing your expertise!
Please call Jennifer Andrews-Weckerly at (302) 652-0365 x103 if you would like more information about these or other opportunities.
