Nazareth
In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin
betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. Luke 1:26-27

Nazareth, in the Galilean hills, is a small town where Jesus grew up.  Today it boasts the largest Arab Christian population in the Holy Land. The Basilica of the Annunciation, completed in 1969, was built over the traditional site of Mary's home where she received the news from the angel Gabriel that she would bear the Messiah. | Sea of Galilee | Bay of Parables | Bethsaida | Capernaum | Tagbha | Eremos | Jordan River | Kursi | Nazareth |

This stained glass window inside the Church of St. Joseph (near the Basilica of the Annunciation) depicts the betrothal of Mary to Joseph.  This church is located over the traditional site of Joseph's workshop and home where he lived with Jesus and Mary.

Church near the remains of a synagogue where it is believed that Jesus went on the Sabbath and read from the prophet Isaiah  (Luke 4:16-30, Mathew 4:13, Mark 6).
