Gamla and the
Golan
Heights
The Golan Heights is noted for its natural beauty and
cool climate. It is marked by rivers, falls, mountains, streams,
and breathtaking views. It is first mentioned in the Bible as a city of
refuge for Israelites guilty of manslaughter (Deut. 4:34). The city of
Gamla was an important holdout for the Jews during their revolt from the
Romans between 66-73 AD. Israel captured Golan from Syria in the 1967 Six
