    Knight of the Year

Marcel Bergeron Each year an award is made to a Knight for outstanding service to the Council. This award is traditionally presented to the Knight of the Year at the annual Officer Installation and Dinner. Our Knight of the Year for 2009-2010 is Brother Marcel P. Bergeron. Marcel has been a Knight for nearly 18 years and is very active at both the Council and District levels. He is a past Grand Knight and has held the office of District Deputy for District 7. He was recently the Past Faithful Navigator for Fr. William Schmitz Assembly 2258 and is currently the Faithful Admiral for that Assembly. Marcel developed our Council’s and District 7’s web sites and is the current webmaster for both sites. He is an active ceremonialist, performing the roles of Warden on our Council’s First Degree Team and the Chancellor on the District 7 Second Degree Team. Marcel and his wife, Linda, have been active in a number of the Parish ministries since coming to the parish in 1985. Marcel is currently a slide operator, a Eucharistic Minister and a Tabulator. He also finds time to sing in the Knight’s choir when he can. Marcel and Linda have three children--Michelle, Andrea and Matthew and a granddaughter, Leila.

This Council is proud to name Marcel Bergeorn as Knight of the Year.

    Family of the Year

The Carson Family Each year an award is made to a Family for outstanding service to the Council. This award is traditionally presented to the Family of the Year at the annual Officer Installation and Dinner. Our Council has named the Family of Joe and Nancy Carson as 2009-2010 Family of the Year. Joe and Nancy moved to Kennewick and joined Holy Spirit Parish in 2000. In 2002, Joe went through the RCIA program and joined the Church. He joined the Knights the same year. Joe and Nancy have had a tremendous impact on our Council and our District. They both have been committed to our Council and the Parish from the moment they joined. Joe became Chancellor in 2003, Deputy Grand Knight in 2004, and then Grand Knight in 2005. He then served as Trustee of the Council for the next 3 years. He joined the Fr. Michael J. Schmitz Assembly 2258 in 2006 and quickly became active as a Sir Knight. He became Faithful Pilot of the Assembly the same year and Faithful Captain the next year. He was voted in as Faithful Navigator in 2008 and now serves as Faithful Admiral. Joe and Nancy’s determination and commitment to our Council and Assembly are strongest when it comes to the spirit of fraternity for his brother knights and their families. Joe and Nancy always seem to know what’s going on with council members and their families, especially whether they are celebrating a special anniversary or going through some tough times. Joe and Nancy are always the first to reach out with flowers, cards of condolence or congratulations, or sending Mass cards. When anyone in the council needs to know what’s happening with any of our members, they always call Joe and Nancy first. Joe, with Nancy’s help and support, is an indefatigable recruiter for our Council and for our local Assembly. He has developed a system of one on- one recruiting of new prospective Knights and Sir Knights that is unsurpassed. He and Nancy are our No. One recruiters for our Council and Assembly and have served as a District resource in the area of membership and program development. He is currently a State Co-Chairman of New Council and Round Table development for Central Washington. Joe also plays the part of Grand Knight on the Council’s First Degree Exemplification Team and rarely misses opportunities when asked to help other first degree teams in our area and throughout District 7. He also plays the part of the Grand Knight on District 7’s Second Degree Team. We are proud to name Joe and Nancy Carson as our Family of the Year
