First Communion
First Communion is one of the most beautiful moments of Parish life. On Saturday, May 19, there were 21 children who received Holy Communion for the very first time.
Every
year, when I am presiding over the Mass of First Communion, I remember
with joy
the day of my own First Communion,
Looking at the children, we learn a lot about what it means to receive Jesus truly present in the consecrated host. They really believe that Jesus is present in the Blessed Sacrament, and that when they receive communion, they encounter Christ. The witness that they bear always renews my faith and helps to conquer the insensibility caused by routine. We need to always approach the Holy Eucharist with the eyes and hearts of children, with the same astonishment that they have before Jesus.
We congratulate the children who received their First Communion and we also congratulate their families! We pray that the grace of the first encounter with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament will produce abundant fruit in their lives.

Primera Comunión
Primera Comunión es uno de los más
bellos momentos de la vida parroquial. El sábado, 19 de mayo,
hubo 21 niños que
recibieron la comunión por primera vez.
Cada año, cuando estoy presidiendo la Misa
de Primera Comunión, recuerdo con alegría el día
de mi Primera Comunión, 31 de
mayo de 1980. Estoy tan agradecida a Mis padres y mi catequista de la
forma en
que me prepararon para un día tan importante. Quince años
más tarde, cuando fui
ordenado sacerdote y celebre la primera misa,
pedí la gracia con la misma sencillez de corazón
que tenía en el día de
mi primera comunión, a fin de ser un buen servidor de la
Eucaristía.
Mirando a los niños, aprendemos mucho sobre lo que
significa recibir a
Jesús realmente presente en la hostia consagrada. Ellos
realmente creen que
Jesús está presente en el Santísimo Sacramento, y
que cuando reciben la
comunión, se encuentran con Cristo. El testimonio que ellos llevan siempre renueva mi fe y me ayuda a
conquistar la insensibilidad causada por la rutina. Necesitamos enfocar
siempre
la Eucaristía con los ojos y los
corazones de los
niños, con el mismo asombro que tienen ante Jesús.
Felicitamos a los niños que recibieron su primera
comunión y también
felicitamos a sus familias! Oramos para que
la gracia
del primer encuentro con Jesús en el Santísimo Sacramento
produzca abundantes
frutos en sus vidas.

caring retreat team, a witness talk, and a non-judgmental atmosphere,
to heal
from this shame and other negative emotions, that

SHARING SCRIPTURE GROUP: The Faith-sharing
scripture group meets on
Thursdays at 10:00am in the religious education building. Come join
fellow
parishioners in reading the Sunday scripture and discussing how it
applies to
life today.

OF BAPTISMS: Families
must be registered and participating in the Parish for this
Sacrament to be

BLESSING
OF HOMES AND FAMILIES: In preparation for
our 50th
anniversary Fr. Jose Maria would be available to visit homes for
blessing of

NOVENA FOR
FATHERS: a novena for all
deceased and living fathers will be offered during the month of June,
beginning
with Father’s Day, June 17th. Cards are available in
the church
vestibule for anyone who wishes to have their father remembered during
this
novena. Registration envelopes need to be returned to the rectory by
June 15th
to be placed on the altar.
SOCIAL CONCERNS COMMISSION
CORNER
Each month a dedicated group of
Christ the King volunteers
helps at the Shepherd's Table Soup Kitchen in
FOOD COLLECTION: Parishioners are
reminded that every 4th Sunday of the month (May 27th.) food
donations will be accepted in the baskets provided in the vestibule of
the
church. Donations are for parish
families in need.
