Sunday Shared Lunch

These started when Kathleen, Christine, Ella and I were on holiday, and we realised how nice it was to have company when eating- you see, we are all widows- and that’s when Kathleen (she’s the thoughtful one) came up with the idea of a shared table Sunday lunch in the Community Centre. To cut a long story short, we approached Fr Robin, who, when he saw the four of us, retreated up the stairs with a worried look on his face! When we told him what we wanted he looked very relieved, smiled and said “OK- yes- go for it.”

We started with 12 at our first lunch. We now have a few couples who have joined us, and at the last Christmas lunch we were 40+. It really is great fun and the food is wonderful- also, I should tell you that it’s not teetotal. So come and give it a try. Everyone is welcome.

It works this way: the lunches are approximately every two months, advertised in the weekly Bulletin, giving phone numbers of the organisers. Tell us what you want to bring; that way there’s an even balance of contributions. It’s as easy as that and, as I said, great fun.
