Pray with Us

The Holy Spirit is the inspirer of all prayer. For Christians, prayer is as natural as breathing - and both are necessary for life!

Jesus is the centre of our prayer life. He directs our thoughts and actions to God Our Father as we pray in the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Spirit is alive in our times. Many contemporary prayers speak to the souls of modern persons. Many ancient prayers are relevant to today's age, precisely because they are inspired by the same Spirit.

In our personal prayer, which is our individual and unique relationship with God, we may use set prayers or we may speak spontaneously as the Spirit moves us.

The Rosary

The Rosary has been an integral part of Catholic devotional practice since before the thirteenth century. As we pray the Rosary, we recall the principal mysteries of our salvation in groups of five decades. In 2002 the Holy Father proposed a new set of mysteries, called the mysteries of light.
The repetition of the prayers of each decade helps us to meditate deeply on God's love for us.

The following links will take you to sites that give guidance on how to pray the Rosary.

Stations of the Cross

The stations of the cross are a meditative journey on the Way of the Cross. We watch and pray with Our Lord through his passion, and through this inner journey come to a greater awareness of God's participation in the suffering of the world, and our own yearning for peace and justice in a fallen world.

Standing before each of the stations in turn, hymns, prayers, silence and reflections engage our hearts and minds on this pilgrimage of suffering. Yet even at the last station, before us is the hope of Christ's resurrection, when death is overcome and hope vindicated.

There are very many meditations available as a help to praying the Way of the Cross. Through this links we direct you to meditate with the Passionists:

Praying with Scripture & Christian Contemplative Prayer

When we pray with Scripture we build a special relationship with God; we open our lives and let Him meet us in a loving and unique way.

The ancient method of Bible reading called lectio divina is a method which has borne much fruit in the Church through the centuries. Although neglected in recent times, today it is making an important contribution to Church renewal.

Though we tend to think of prayer as thoughts or feelings expressed in words, this is only one expression. Christian Contemplative Prayer is the opening of our whole being, mind and heart, to God, beyond thoughts, words and emotions.
