Tony, I have not visited the site for a while, but really suprised at the amount of information that you have in it, very informative, excellent layout, and the opportunities that are given for deepening ones faith. Keep it up

Hi, I was born and raised in St. Benedict's parish. My mother's family's name was Cade. My father was Edward Holland. My mother's family was very involved in the church. My Aunt Lily Cade was the sacristan in the 1940s and 1950s. My mother Eleanor, or Nellie, sewed the vestments and took care of all the sewing. My brothers and I cleaned the church with Aunty Lily and took care of everything every Saturday. I remember mostly how much fun we had putting on socials and plays with Aunty Lily and have an old picture from the early 1930s of when they put on St. Joan. Wonderful to find out St. Benedict's is still such a thriving and faith-filled community. Many prayers for you all. God bless you, Mary Kelly (Holland)

Referred to St. Benedict's website through a link on the Slingo family website:
(http://www.communigate.co.uk/hants/slingofamily2/). I am descended from the Slingo's of Hampshire line and I surmise that somehow I am related to Fr. Tony Slingo and wanted to say "hello". My family and I are parishoners of St. Anthony of Padua in East Northport, NY, where I teach a 4th grade religious education class on Saturdays and Lector at mass on Sundays. It's nice to know we have a priest in the family!

Hi Tony, On behalf of my side of the family we were very appreciative that you were able to conduct the funeral service of my dad. Everybody that I have spoken to has said what a wonderful service it was. Your sermon depicated all the great things about the life of my dad, Dennis George Slingo. God bless to you and all at St. Benedict's.

Hello, I am not too familiar with UK geography...I am looking for a Catholic orphanage that would have been operating approx 1944 - 1950, specifically for a twin cousins born in Cheshire, their mother died at their birth and their father put them into an orphanage. Mother -- "Dora" Edna Theodora TAYLOR and father William Norman TAYLOR. It is possible that one of the twins died while at the orphanage. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

My mother is from Warrington and went to St. Benedicts Catholic school. I'm not sure if this is the same place or not. Her twin sister, Margaret Horton still lives in Warrington in the house they grew up in. My mother passed away in November 2002, in the USA, and I am trying to find out things about where she grew up, etc. Thank you!

Please e-mail the parish or the webmaster direct with some more details and we'll ask around for you
Being a humanist, I don't believe in any higher power beyond human reason. I look upon all organised religion as a substitute for a genuine search for truth. However, I must say, St Benedict's is a nice church, and whilst I would never think of praying in it, I do occasionally visit in order to spend some time quietly thinking over logical problems. When I attend services, it is with an air of cynical condescension. A sneer of amusement ripples beneath my moustache. However, to your credit, I must say that I usually leave St Benedict's with a feeling that there are worse things than organised religion - eg. war, crack cocaine, and my old enemy: The Doctor... so keep up the good work!
