Method Kilaini is a catholic Bishop, Born on 30th March 1948 in a beautful banana village of katoma in Bukoba North West Tanzania.

Schooled in Bukoba till he finished his two years Philosophy in 1968. He did his theology at the Urban University of Propaganda Fide in Rome where he got his Licenciate in Theology (STL) in 1972. That same year he was ordained priest in Rome. This also gave him a chance to travell in Europe, to learn Italian, French and German and open up his mind.

Back home he did pastoral work for two years and later became diocesan procurator as assistant Treasurer, taught in the minor seminary and for five years taught church history at Ntungamo Major Seminary, Bukoba.

In 1985 he returned to Rome for further studies and earned his doctorate in Church History at the Gregoran University in 1990. His thesis was on the culture and early evangelisation of North-West Tanzania (Kagera).

From 1991, January to March 2000 he was Secretary General of the Tanzania Episcopal Conference. On 8th January he was appointed by the Holy father John Paul II to auxiliary bishop of the archdiocese of Dar es Salaam. He was ordained bishop on 18th March 2000 by His Eminence Polycarp Cardinal Pengo assisted by 29 other bishops.

He is interested in human rights issues, democracy, ecumenism and dialogue with different groups of people. Computer and webbing are his hobbies.
