Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) Program
The RCIA is a program for all, Catholics or non-Catholics, interested in knowing more about the Catholic faith. Weekly meetings, beginning in September, cover on an adult level the essentails of Catholic Chrisianity - basic beliefs, sacraments, morals, prayer, and daily living. |
Initially, all inquirers are invited to participate as long as they wish. In December or January, non-Catholics who may want to become Catholics continue their preparation for entry into the Church, either as catechumens (non-baptized) or candidates (baptized Christians). Towards the beginning of Lent, those who ask to enter the church enter upon the final phase of their preparation as elect. On Holy Saturday evening they are publicly received into the Catholic Church with the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Communion). |
