St. Norbert Parish Council Meeting Minutes

Attendance: Fr. Jim Mitulski, Kevin McMichael, Ken Poorman, Bud Alexander, Joe Mooney, Carol Schneider, Peggy Scott, Jill Anselm, Tom Kienstra, 

 

Absent:  John Brendel

           

Meeting opened with a prayer by Peggy Scott, 8/11 minutes approved.

 

Pastors Report:

  1. Installation Mass Date, Fr. Jim is waiting to verify his schedule before a date can be chosen.
  2. Aquinas Institute Apollos Project Update, We are waiting for another meeting to determine how the Parish Council should pursue this further.
  3. Parking lot cost,   $45,000, however some of the council members were not sure of what work was contracted to be completed.  There are already signs of the construction work having some failures.  We are in the process of reviewing whether or not the contractor met his/her obligations.
  4. 2005/2006 School Budget   Tony Naughton will work this year’s budget; Fr. Jim is working with Tony before they finalize this years budget.          

 

Old Business:

1.      Sept 24 Parish Council Retreat is postponed until a new date can be chosen.

2.      Parish Council Ministry workshop given by the Archdiocese is scheduled for Oct 8th, from 9:15-2:30,  Fr. Jim has requested that all Council members  attend if at all possible,   The meeting will be at the Cardinal Rigali Center.

 

 

New Business:

    1. Finance Committee Chair.   Mark Muesenfechter’s name was suggested as a good candidate for the job.
    2. We need to address why a lot of our parishioners are going to Church in the City.  Are we appealing to our parishioners with multi cultural differences and backgrounds.
    3. Should 11:00 Mass be more geared to the younger crowd?
    4. What direction should our music department go to for this year and in the future, more guitar masses, more kids playing instruments, more modern approach to the Liturgy for certain masses etc.  Ken will discuss with Tim Jansen.
    5. We will hold a pledge card drive for the next 4 months for victims of Hurricane Katrina, we decided that the money should go to an organization rather than an individual family.   Fr. Jim will make the announcement at Mass next week.
