St. Norbert’s Parish Council Meeting Minutes

Thursday October 13, 2005  

Attendance: Fr. Jim Mitulski, Kevin McMichael, Ken Poorman, Jill Anselm, Tom Kienstra, Carol Schneider, Peggy Scott, Bud Alexander, Fr Rich Bucheit.  Absent: John Brendel, Joe Mooney 

Meeting opened with a prayer by Peggy Scott, September 8, minutes approved 

Old Business :  

  1. We discussed whether or not to move the meeting to a different night to accommodate John Brendels’ work schedule and others. We need to check the availability of the rectory meeting room.
  2. We decided that 9 council members were okay even though some parishes have 12.
  3. Joan Thoma should be Facilitator at St Norbert Retreat, Cost $150
  4. Peggy Bryant and Jill Anselm attended the Parish Council workshop

We will all look at the sample of the meeting agenda that Peggy provided to see if we would like to change anything that we do.

We decided that food was unnecessary at the meetings. Should we add more prayer or a personal speaker at our meetings? 

Pastors Report: 

  1. Fr. Jim handed out a Catholic Family Services Needs Assessment for us to look over and fill out if we would like to.
  2. Lay groundwork for how a Deanery should be set up, Strategic Planning
  3. We all need to show up for Fr. Jim installation mass at 10:00 to help set up.   

New Business:

  1. Nov. 17th meeting will be the Parish Council Retreat from 6:00-9:00. The meeting place will be determined, restaurant, rectory, etc….
  2. Fr, Jim and Ken Poorman met with Tim Jansen and decided that new, more  modern music books were necessary to jazz up our 11:00 mass
  3. We decided that it would be good to get more of the band members back playing at 11:00 mass
  4. A motion was passed to spend $3000 but no more than $5000 on new hymnals.    

The meeting closed with a prayer by Fr Jim Mitulski.
