Introductions:
Joan Thoma
who is now a St. Norbert parishioner helped facilitate our Parish council
planning meeting. Joan is a consultant with the Archdiocese of St Louis
and conducts Parish Council Workshops.
- We
talked about the strengths and weaknesses of our parish. We did an
exercise to determine what areas to pursue to make our parish more
vibrant.
- How
should the Parish move forward to keep the Parish alive
- How
can we form a community together??
Old Business:
John Brendel’s
work schedule will not allow him to serve in the parish council faculty. He
resigned his position effective immediately.
New Business :
- We
talked about ways to get more involvement from more of our parishioners.
- Retention
before Evangelization, let’s keep the participating parishioners happy and
involved at St Norberts.
- How
do we get the other 2/3 of our parish to get more involved in the Parish
- Each
family should ask another family that hasn’t attended Church in a while to come and join us at
mass.
- Fr
Jim suggested that we make a “Video Collage” and show it at the masses on
Sunday, this would show off all the different organizations at our Parish.
It worked well at Fr. Jim’s former Church.
- Have
a “Family Retreat Day” our committees and organizations could present some
of what they do in breakout rooms on this Family Day
- Long
Term Goal” should lead into Evangelization of our members who are not
participating.
Pastors Report:
- Picked
Dec 8th for our first 3 hour Apollos
meeting at our regular Parish Council Meeting time. Parish council
members, staff and finance committee members should attend.
- Fr.
Jim passed out a booklet for all to read regarding the “Northeast Deanery Strategic Planning
Committee.
- Fr
Jim suggested that we need a “Parish Marketing Committee” to recruit new
members to our Parish and keep the current members involved and happy.
