Old Business:
Pastor’s report:
• Fr. Pat has accepted the resignations of a janitor and
the coordinator of the bell choir. Interviews for the positions have been
scheduled.
• New leadership for St. Vincent De Paul Society is
needed. At this time no one has expressed interest in assuming the
responsibility.
• Replacements have been found for the following
ministries: Newsletter (Marie Roggers), Easter Vigil (Sharon Hunt), Eucharistic
Minister (Jane Wyotus). The coordinator
for the Liturgy has also resigned and a replacement has not been named.
• At this time the Archdiocesan office has not named the
recipients of the tuition assistance grant(s).
• The “Nancy Nolle” foundation award has been given to Samantha
Tatoian.
• Fr. Pat has received feedback from parish commissions that they
would like more communication with their parish council representative.
4oth Anniversary celebration:
• Event is scheduled for
Parish Council reps will be
responsible for sign up after all masses on weekend of May 21 & 22. (
• Sign up sheet for Parish Council reps to be “greeters” at all
Masses on June 4 & 5 (
Aquinas Institute:
• There will be a written survey passed to participants at all masses
on the weekend of May 21 &22. The
survey will address issues related to the Apollo’s Project.
• Jill Anselm has not received any additional reports from the ministries
of St. Norbert as requested at the last “leadership” meeting.
• Fr. Pat announced that the repair to the parking lot is
estimated at $250,000. A capital fund
raiser will be considered in order to have the repairs made as the parking lot
is at risk to cause injury.
New Business:
• New Board members are: Tom Kienstra, Carol Schneider and
Peggy Scott.
• The June 9 council meeting will welcome the new members with
a pot luck dinner. See attached.
• Fr. Pat asked for advice on how best to handle the presence
of members of the Rainbow Sash movement should they present on Pentecost
Sunday, wearing their sash, and expecting to receive the Eucharist. There was a show of hands to support the
recommendation received from the Archbishop.
• Fr. Pat received a letter of communication from the Archdiocese
defining the legalities related to “fund raising”.
• There was a consensus of council member that as a parish we
would sign and return a petition received from the Archdiocese related to
placing a moratorium on capital punishment.
Council chairperson Kevin McMichael signed the petition.
• Fr. will communicate by a notice in the bulletin and through
a letter sent to parish organization representatives that there is ‘asbestos’
in the walls of our buildings.
• There will not be a July meeting.
