St.St. Norbert Parish Council Meeting Minutes

Thursday, June 9, 2005

 

Attendance: Fr. Pat Ryan, Fr. Rich Buchheit, Kevin McMichael, Ken Poorman, Bud Alexander, John Brendel, Rick Gwydir, Risë Schreiber, Jill Anselm, Carol Schneider, Peggy Scott, and Tom Kienstra.

 

Absent: Joe Mooney and Ron Taylor

 

Meeting opened with a prayer by Kevin McMichael.  May 2005 minutes approved.

 

Pastor’s Report:

 

  1. New council members welcomed at this meeting.  A dinner was held prior to the start of the meeting.  New council members are Tom Kienstra, Carol Schneider, and Peggy Scott. 

 

  1. Retiring council members Risë Schreiber, Rick Gwydir, and Ron Taylor were thanked for their service to the council over the past three years.

 

  1. St. Vincent DePaul Society is in need for members to assist the poor of our parish and neighborhood. 

 

  1. The Apollos Project…Aquinas Institute team will work with our parish to form a job description to fit our ministry needs.

 

  1. Bids have been received for repaving our parking lot.  The bid through the Archdiocese is approximately $250,000 and a bid through a parishioner and Fontana Paving came in at $100,000 to $125,000.  The archdiocese is requesting 2 additional bids. 

 

  1. A new janitor/maintenance man has been hired to replace Charles Owens, janitor, who resigned.  Bruce Barbour has accepted the position.

 

Old Business:

 

1.      Jill Anselm updated the council on the 40th Anniversary celebration to be held Saturday, June 11, 2005.

 

New Business:

 

1.       The Parish Council Commission Representatives for the next year are:

Tom Kienstra, Vice Chair

John Brendel, Liturgy 

Carol Schneider, Evangelization

Ken Poorman, Finance 

Joe Mooney, Education

Bud Alexander, Parish Life 

Peggy Scott, Social Concerns

Kevin McMichael, Member at Large

 

2.       There will not be a Parish Council Meeting in July.  The next meeting will be August 11, 2005. 

 

The meeting closed with a prayer by Risë Schreiber.
