St. Norbert Parish Council Meeting Minutes

Opening Prayer: Fr. Jim


Old Business:

  1. Jan 12 and Jan 21 minutes approved.

  2. Parish Council Ministry Workshop 9:15-2:30 March 11, 2006 at Cardinal Ritter, council members are welcome to attend.

  3. Peggy, Carol and Jill attended the Northeast County Deanery follow up meeting, 2/11 the following items were discussed


Pastors Report


  1. Healing Mass once a month at St. Norbert's Church.

  2. A collection was taken at Mass for Fr Rich's ramp project.

  3. New speakers are needed for our PA system in church, need to evaluate our current system and recommend changes or cost options.

  4. A soda machine will be put in Schaeffer Hall

  5. Spiritual Renewal; Fr Jim suggested a retreat, possibly with an overnight stay, such as CHIRP (Christ Renews His Parish)

  6. Mission will be held after Lent.

  7. We should send our Parish Bulletin to soldiers in our Parish, serving overseas.

  8. Family Fun Day in spring, parents, teenagers and younger children would be involved in discussions, reflection, Family Mission Statements, together and in separate breakout groups. All parishioners would be invited. 5-8 hours on Friday or Saturday

  9. The school budget was in the black for this year, but we will consider a School Endowment Fund as a safety net for continuing security.

  10. Our Weekly committed funds for the Parish collection should be around $17,000, we are actually collecting about $14,000-$15,000 per week.

  11. We need to put a graphic in our Bulletin to illustrate, how much money has been pledged and how much money has actually been received in our weekly collections.

New Business:


  1. Parish Organization Convention has been canceled for now.

  2. We are still searching for volunteers to head the Parish Marketing Committee

  3. Still looking for volunteers for the choir.

  4. Early March, announce volunteers for the Parish Council.

  5. March 26th and April 2nd, cards for volunteers for the Parish Council will be left in the pews at Church

  6. April 30th, meet with nominees to brief them about the Parish Council and make sure they are still interested in serving

  7. May 7th will be the date that volunteers are chosen during Mass.
