Message from the Grand Knight

Carlos

The Grand Knight is Carlos Irene. You can contact him by email at cirene@comcast.net.

Brothers,

January s already gone! As we get into February our schedule also start to get really busy. We have Cajun Night, we have a first degree and we start our Lenten Fish Fry. As we get involved in all this activities, we also need to remember the most important time of all; Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. As we get into this time it is important to prepare ourselves and think about everything that our Lord went through so we would be saved. A lot of times we take the time of Lent to give up something that
represent a sacrifice. We give up chocolate, candy, beer and many other things, but we don’t always have to give up something to make this time a time of sacrifice. I challenge you to make this time a special time for the Lord by adding something to your life. I challenge you to add prayer to your day. Instead of giving up something, add fifteen
minutes of prayer to your day every day for the forty days of Lent. This will give you peace in your life, tranquility on your day and will bring you ever closer to God. Even better, I guarantee that after Lent is over you will not be able to stop your daily prayers, which is not a bad thing. So please accept the challenge and let me know how it goes after Lent is over.

Fraternally,
Carlos Irene GK

Project Moses

Key Objectives

To Make God's Ten Commandments:

• More widely known
• More deeply understood
• More ardently revered
• More faithfully followed

Project Moses was inspired in the summer of 2000, when a Ten Commandments monument was removed from the Wyandotte County Courthouse lawn in Kansas City after the American Civil Liberties Union threatened to sue over what it claimed was a violation of the First Amendment to the Constitution.

Over the last 25 years, respect and admiration for God’s sacred Commandments have fallen victim to both apathy and hostility. Under a distorted interpretation of the founding intent of “separation of church and state,” God’s laws are being systematically torn from the fabric of American culture.

This is a dangerous direction for the United States, leading our nation to a deeper state of subjective morality and individual license.

Project Moses wants to establish 7000 Ten Commandment monuments at churches, synagogues, religious schools and private properties to fund the completion of a $10 million memorial, similar in scope to the Lincoln and Jefferson memorials, to the Decalogue in Washington, D.C.

A 6.5 acre site on private property, in Washington D.C., has been identified and made available to Project Moses, however, the National Park Service has been contacted in an effort to secure a site on the National Mall.  No matter which site is chosen, Project Moses and the memorial organizers hope to have the national memorial ready for visitors by 2009. The center pieces of this memorial will be an 18- to 24-foot bronze statue of Moses and an enormous stone slate of the commandments.

God proclaimed the Ten Commandments to provide direction for his people to live a better life, grounded in the love of God and neighbor. Project Moses was founded to promote a clear understanding and strong adherence to the Ten Commandments and to assist all people in embracing the essential duties of living a life of truth, charity and justice.

Take this opportunity to place the Ten Commandments at San Juan del Rio in the form of a Mt. Sinai White Marble monument  with the Ten Commandments (front) Beatitudes (back) Monument This monument is 40” W x 24”D x 64”T and requires a concrete slab to support its weight (850 lbs.) Lettering is engraved and colored black with edging engraved and colored black. The base is engraved with the Two Great Commandments.

Donations of $25 .00 or more will receive a Ten Commandment  French Limestone 8” x 8” plaque with mahogany wood stand - available in the St. Augustine (Catholic), King James (Protestant) or Jewish numbering.

Donations of $250.00 or more will receive a miniature  Ten Commandments (front) Beatitudes (back) Monument – This monument is 10” W x 6”D x 18”T and weighs 35 lbs.  The monument is available in Mt. Sinai Tan Marble, Mt. Sinai White Marble, Red Granite or Black Granite.  The base is engraved with the Two Great Commandments and would make a great desk top or yard ornament
