CHURCH FINANCES

Like most Catholic churches in Scotland, the Sacred Heart has very little in the way of endowments or income generating property of any kind. To meet the ordinary and extra-ordinary expenditure of the parish, we rely on the giving of the parishioners and those others who attend Mass.

Due to the historic nature of our buildings and paintings, we also receive contributions from bodies such as Historic Scotland and the Lottery Heritage Fund. For details of the expenditure that this has involved in the past and will involve in the future, see our pages on Building Projects and Restoration of the Stations of the Cross.

If you pay UK income tax, you can use the "Gift Aid Scheme" to enable us to recover the tax you have paid on your giving. This was formerly known as the Covenant Scheme and the system is now much simpler. You do not have to pledge for any particular length of time or pledge any particular sum. We can reclaim the tax you have paid on all money you give to the Church (so long as it goes via a numbered envelope or via a bank standing order). This applies not only to the offertory collection but also the special collection once a month for the Maintenance Fund, Christmas offering, Easter offering etc. If you want to join, then go to our Gift Aid Form, print it out, complete it and send it to the Parish Office. Available in Word-96 format and Text Only format.

If you want further explanation about the Gift Aid (formerly Covenant) system then contact the Parish Secretary who will arrange for our covenant officer to discuss it with you.

If you want to contribute by Banker's Order then go to our Banker's Order Form, print it out, complete it and send it to the Parish Office. Available in Text format.
