The
Secular Franciscan Order involves a permanent commitment towards personal
union with the Lord Jesus in the tradition and spirituality of the Franciscan
Family. It involves the proper role of a secular person in the Society
and in the Church within the context of the total Franciscan Fraternity.
This involves living Gospel to life, life to Gospel, thus following
Jesus in the footsteps of St. Francis. In the process of achieving this
goal, the formation also offers to the candidate a process of discernment
in seeking this way of life.

These
goals are addressed in our local chapter through monthly meetings, which
include study of appropriate books, the distribution of Holiday food
baskets, serving meals at the Christian Aide Center, knitting and distribution
of Christmas toys to local needy children as well as individual service
for the Church including the Council, Eucharistic Ministers, Altar Society,
Readers, and home visitation.
