On November 1, 1991 Project Timothy opened it's doors on Main Street in Dayton, Washington. Project Timothy was formed as a direct result of the mission statement of St. Mark's and St. Joseph's Churches. It was formed as an ecumenical outreach, and many churches in the community participate through service as board members, and volunteers, and through financial contributions.

The founding principles of the organization are:

1. Christian hospitality for all who come;

2. Evangelization by example and where possible, by encouragement in the spiritual life with the utmost respect for each person's background and religious tradition;

3. Charity towards those in crisis through the provision of pastoral counseling and help to obtain the necessities of life during an emergency, insofar as possible;

4. Development and support of new programs to address community needs, which may emerge in the future.

Volunteers are community members who are trained in how to apply different forms of assistance to meet emergency needs. Volunteers agree to follow the mission of Project Timothy.

Project Timothy distributes emergency assistance to residents of Columbia and North Walla Walla counties
