Social Activities

Coffee after Mass

Coffee, tea and biscuits are provided in the Parish Hall after the 10.00 Mass on Fridays and Saturdays, and after the 9.30 Family Mass on Sundays. It is a chance to relax and meet fellow parishioners. Any donations go to our Cambodia Project.

Over-Sixties Club

Parishioners of 60 or over are very warmly welcome at our fortnightly gathering on Tuesdays from noon until 2.00 p.m. in the Parish Hall here at St Augustine’s for a simple lunch of home-made soup, roll, and tea and biscuits, and good company, all for just £1.20 Up to thirty people come regularly. Outings are organised occasionally to places of interest.

Ladies Lunch & Prayer Group

This group meets on the third Monday of each month in the Parish Hall at St Augustine’s. Women gather together, often drawn by a need to escape occasionally from the stresses and worries of daily living. They relax with music and prayer for a while, and then share a light lunch together. Occasionally they have a whole day away together or a short retreat which is a mixture of holiday, prayerfulness and friendship. New members will be warmly welcome.

The Madonnas

This group is for 'youngish' mothers (with children under the age of eleven) and other young women who meet together one Tuesday evening each month and at other times for social activities, outings, spiritual talks, and much eating and drinking. New members are warmly welcome. Activities so far have included a barbecue, quiz night, spiritual talks, fish and chips supper, bowling night, an Italian night, a Spanish night, a Passover meal and a day trip to France. The main meetings take place on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. in the Parish Hall. See one of the core group (the Prima Donnas!) for details.

The Prime-Timers

This is a social group for men and women aged 50+ or thereabouts. Since its foundation in April 2002, they have met for a number of events, including ten-pin bowling, grey hound racing, horse racing, The Globe Theatre London, outings to Romney Marsh church's and Hever Summer Theatre and an evening meal.
