Our Catholic schools

DIOCESAN STATE-AIDED SCHOOLS
St.
Augustines Catholic Primary
St Augustines School in Wilman Road is very much
our local diocesan Catholic primary school. It caters for
children from the age of four, and most of the children
are Catholics from the parishes of Tunbridge Wells,
Southborough, and Pembury and Paddock Wood. There are
close contacts between the school and St Augustines
parish, and the whole life of the school is rooted in the
Catholic Faith. The 1997 Ofsted Report tells of
well-behaved children who are keen to learn and receive a
good education from a committed team of teachers in a
welcoming and caring environment. For more information
contact the headteacher or visit
www.st-augustines.kent.sch.uk.

St.
Gregorys Catholic Comprehensive
St Gregorys is
our deanerys Catholic comprehensive school for
students between the ages of 11 and 18, both boys and
girls. The school is situated in Reynolds Lane on the
border between Tunbridge Wells and
Southborough, not far from St Augustines Primary
School. It works to provide a full, broad and balanced
curriculum to students of all abilities. The school is
proud of its reputation as a school that tries to allow
each young person to fulfil his or her potential within a
culture and ethos based on Christian values and the
tenets of the Catholic Faith. The 1999 Ofsted Report sees
St Gregorys as a very good school which provides an
education of high quality. Examination results are
consistently high, and facilities at the school include
four computer rooms, seven science laboratories, music
and art suites, a library and a large chapel for year and
whole-school assemblies and Masses. Besides a system of
tutor groups and form tutors, St Gregorys also has
both a Special Needs Co-ordinator and a
More Able Co-ordinator to meet the needs of
students with exceptional ability. The school now has a
team of year chaplains. For more information, contact the
headteacher. Click HERE for the school's web site.
INDEPENDENT SCHOOL

This independent, fee-paying day and boarding school
in Pembury Road was founded in 1915 by the Sisters of the
Sacred Heart Order, but was taken over in 1971 by a lay
charitable trust. It maintains a Catholic ethos while
welcoming students of all faiths. Beechwood has a long
history of high standards in education and sporting
activities, and music and the performing arts play a
prominent part in school life. The school has a
Preparatory Department, taking girls and boys from 3-11.
The main school takes girls from 11-18. For further
information, contact the headteacher. Click HERE
