This special season of preparation often gets overlooked in the haste and rush towards Christmas. As our busy lives focus upon Christmas, lets step back for a moment, during these dark nights of winter, and make Advent a time of waiting, a time of longing, and a time of anticipation. Join us as we journey through Advent with these short liturgies of readings, reflections, intercessions and music. Lets put Advent into context and really prepare for the coming of Christ. ************************************ Fr Philip Pak will be coming back to give a talk on “Art in Advent” on Saturday 13th December after 5.30 pm Mass—6.30 for 7 pm. Refreshments will be served-all welcome.
THINKING FAITH PARISH TALKS Continuing our Monday talks in the hall at 8 p.m. This week: “Jesus Christ—who do you say I am?" Fr Marcus. These talks are open to all. The RCIA group continues meeting in the presbytery after the talk. EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT Advent is almost upon us and with it a wonderful chance to draw nearer to Jesus by being with him for an hour (or whatever time we can spare) before the Blessed Sacrament. What a marvellous opportunity! We travel hundreds of miles to visit places where the saints have been and yet Jesus is waiting for us here! It really is mind-blowing. I now have a few more permanent slots available. These are: Mondays at 1, 3, and 5pm, and Fridays at 2pm. I also need more reserves to fill in when others are sick or away. Many thanks for all your help. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all who have helped with the Exposition throughout the year and to wish you all a Happy and Holy Christmas and New Year. Sylvia
RELIGIOUS CHRISTMAS STAMPS This Christmas, the Post Office is to issue both secular stamps and religious stamps; but just like last year, you have to stipulate if you want religious stamps!! Apparently each Post Office has been asked to report to HQ the totals for each (possibly to say that there is no demand for the latter!) So please remember to ask for the ones with the Christian designs. Use them or lose them.
