Other activities of the Association
Over the years, the Association has taken various initiatives in connection with furthering our general aims.
Much work has been done in recent years, to make contact with former students of the diocesan seminaries. This has the immediate aim of extending the membership of the Association, but also brings other benefits. In particular, the Association provides a possible point of contact for former students who were not eventually ordained and priests who are no longer active in the ministry.
The wide membership of the Association represents a considerable range of ‘collective memory’, which has been useful in gathering historical information and archive material relating to St John's Seminary.
Although it has not yet been implemented, the Association has considered the possible advantages of local meetings, wherever a group of members might be interested in organising activities that could further the aims of the Association. This could perhaps be usefully connected with vocations promotion.
