Saints Ethelbert and Gertrude, Ramsgate and Minster About Us
Two more of our important people !
Saint Ethelbert's, opened in 1902, was originally intended to be the parish church of east Ramsgate, a function it served well for over 100 years. For an account of the creation of the parish see here. At the end of 2008, the other two parishes of Ramsgate were closed and the whole town was created as one parish with its centre at Saint Ethelbert's. In February 2009 the nearby parish of Saint Mildred, Minster-in-Thanet, was closed and amalgamated with Saint Ethelbert and Gertrude. The nuns at Minster Priory have welcomed parishioners to worship with them; and the Anglicans at Saint Mary the Virgin have invited Catholics to celebrate Holy Mass regularly at their church. |
