ChristChurch Guestbook

Thank you for visiting our pages.

We would love it if you would add to this guestbook we are keeping!   Guestadd

I used to go to Christ Church and I have seen some pictures of my friends when we were little and they were in the Brownies and they made me cry. I miss you so much and I hope that the Brownie pack is still in good condition. I went to St. Mary's and I loved it I hope that soon I will be able to have a stronger relationship with the friends that I saw on the photos over the wires. We moved over here quite a while ago and we will be back next year. I miss the church but we were able to visit when my cousin had her wedding this summer and I'm longing to be able to participate in the masses again I hope that all the parish is in good condition and I can't wait to see you all again.

We are preparing the second phase of our development programme, namely Christchurch Parish Centre. We shall need a great deal of money, lets say about £100,000. To that end we are inviting parishioners to come up with ideas and projects for fund raising e.g.swimming, marathons, coffee mornings, cheese and wine evenings, anything. To start us off we have a talk with slides on the Round the World Yaght Race, by Neville Maggs Thursday 18th November in the Centre at 7:30. A collection will be taken.

I am a parishioner of St. Stephens in Welling and took the "tour" of your beautiful church after following a link from the new St. Stephens site (www.saintstephens.co.uk). Although I regularly drive past your church I had no idea how truly beautiful it is inside (aside from the beauty I always find in a place of worship). Maybe one day I will come to mass at Christchurch and enjoy the splendour in person.

FR EDWARD KELLY, CRL Just to inform members of the parish community at Christchurch, that there will be a special Memorial Mass for Fr Edward Kelly on Sunday 7th December 10.00am at St Peter-in-Chains, Stroud Green. As Fr Edward exercised his ministry in a variety of our CRL houses; Cornwall, Eltham and at Stroud Green we wanted to have a special Mass to celebrate his life and minstry. Both Fr Denis O'Gorman and myself travelled to Ballinasloe to receive Fr Edward's Body into Moor church and celebrate the Requiem Mass on the following day - 11th November. Fr Edward is buried just beside the entrance to the church. I am grateful to Fr Denis for the two weeks he spent in Ballinasloe being at Fr Edward's bedside for many hours each day before he died. We look forward to welcoming members of Christchurch parish for the memorial Mass at St Peter-in-Chains. Fr Edward's sister, nieces and nephews will be present for the celebration. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.

Welcome back to Christchurch. I hope you had a good holiday, if you managed to get away.I hope you are pleased with the work that has been done in church. Regular bulletins have been posted throughout and so you will be familiar with the details. The standard of the work has been high, carried out on time and within budget. It has been supervised throughout by Nick Craddy and Paul Clark who have given generously of their time to be on hand to supervise, move things, prepare for Sunday and much else. The parish owes them a debt of gratitude. Thank you too to all those who turned out on Saturday mornings to get the church ready for use. Thank you to the many generous donors who have helped pay for the work. It has been a shared enterprise an example of the parish working together. We still have the benches to sort out, but that's another story.

Hi I used to live in Eltham with my family pre 1979 when we then moved up here to Lincolnshire. My mum and dad (Jim and Dolly Proctor) were both very involved with Christ Church Parish at the time (scouts, coffee mornings, fetes. This was in the days of Father Smith etc. It was great to find your website and have a look around again. Sadly my mum died two years ago, and my dad is moving out to Thailand in January to be near to my older brother, Mike. I still have very fond memories of Christ Church and the folk masses, St Mary's and St Thomas Moore's schools. The parish in Louth is very small and rural compared to Eltham. I'm now a cathechist, which is quite demanding as there are no Catholic schools here at all. I run my own business in marketing and have decided that I'm going to set up a new national website (www.romancatholicfaith.org.uk) with project sheets, games and general information for Catholic children and a RC parish directory. I was pleased to see that you have some good games and quizzes on your site! Will visit your site again soon. Maria Vincent

Parish of St James & St John, Tiverton Dear friends, Thank you for your farewell gift. Your generosity doesn't surprise me, but I still can't get my head round the extent of it! I'm sorry I shan't be coming back to thank you in person, but I have been gone for well over a year now and we have all moved on - in my case to this lively Devon parish, where I have been made so welcome. I think of my brother |Christopher's funeral - that wonderful celebration of memories, love and prayer - as having bee a kind of joint farewll to both of us. The happiest and most fulfilling years of my life wewre spent with him and with you at Christ Church. I shan't ever forget what we all shared, and for that, especially, |I thank you. Fr Paul.

I kinda stumbled into this website as I was looking for information about St Mary's Primary's previous site in Eltham High Street (when it was attached to the convent. Any info anyone can give me would be appreciated (website addresses perhaps?) as I'm trying to set up a previous pupils' association. Check out Friends Reunited - a few of us leavers from 1979 are in touch with each other and it would be nice to see more. And a message for Peter Eastwood: I'm sure your singing was never that bad when I was in the Priory Players - maybe that's why you were always set-building!! Any ex-Priory Players who want to get in touch with me would be very welcome too.... Brenda (was Bates, now Turner)

PRAYER: Merciful God, you made all of the people of the world in your own image and have placed before us the pathway of salvation through your saints and prophets. Look with compassion on the whole human family; take away the arrogance and hatred which infect our hearts; break down the walls that separate us; unite us in bonds of love; and work through our struggle and confusion to accomplish your purposes on earth; that, in your good time, all nations and races may serve you in justice, peace and harmony around your heavenly throne. (Amen) PRAYER: Merciful God, please give to peoples of the world the required wisdom and determination, to learn to live in peace like brothers and sisters, by ending the divisions and hatreds created by our past and present elders. It is now over three months sice the untimely death of my brother Christopher. He is still very much central in our thoughts and the memories of the wonderful love and support shown at his funeral will never be forgotton. To me Christopher was a very special brother and the love and afection shown at his funeral will forever remain with us as a family. In his memory at Christchurch Priory I, my wife,Pat and daughter Rebecca would very much like to "contribute" something in his memory and in particular to the Youth Group. Could some body please make a suggestion for the possible purchase of equipment or an anual donation towards a specific project etc. Any sugestions would be most welcome even if it is only for an annual celebration of the Eucharist in his memory. Thankyou all once again for all the love an support afforded to us all at his funeral and the ongoing support that youhave all given to Paul. Many thanks John Rea. PS I wonder what Chris would have made of the cuurent test series against Australia!?

I grew up in Bodmin so have very fond memories of the CRL. It is so sad that lack of vocations meant the order had to leave Bodmin. I remember Father Christopher from when I attended Bodmin's catholic primary school and was saddened to learn of his death when I attended mass on Easter Sunday back in Bodmin. I don't think it is any accident that people who were in my school class back then are still attending mass now, when so many people fall away as they get older. The inspiration of enthusiasticambassadors for the faith such as Father Christopher was very important. Maybe when I am in the area sometime I'll get the opportunity to visit Eltham. Wishing parishioners and the Canons all the best. Dan

You all seem so friendly in your "virtual world" I am encouraged to meet you "in the flesh". You have provided a wonderful taster of what the church looks like and an insight into it's history. You have obviously all worked very hard, not just making this website, but in keeping the church maintained and clean and thriving. I'll just have to visit and find out more!

FROM FR CHRISTOPHER I have been persuaded to join the "modern" society and am now on the web. I have been working with computers since they began but have nevr ventured this far, and I am so grateful to Michael and Edward for making this New Year message possible. Those of who know me will understand what a difficult year this has been for me. I have so much missed my parish ministry that sometimes I feel almost drwan to despair - but that is a sin ins't it? You know that I mean. Fot the last three months I have not been able to speak, something has gone wrong with my voicebox!? - over the next two months that we will be sorted out at Guys, and I also have to have a further CT Scan at St Thomas's. I really hope and pray that after that I may be among you again. Do you have a New Year Resolution? I have. It won't be of immediate help to all, but to all of you are sick or suffering please join with me in trying to promise to say as ofen as you can "Into your hands, Lod, I commend my spirit." That prayer is a complete prayer of trust in God, it is as if we are saying to Him : Lord, I cannot solve this (these) problems, but I am going to leave tyem in your hands. It is something really wonderful that the very Son of God prayed that prayer on the cross - it makes it so poignant and impoertant. Hope to see you all soom, God bless.

I am a regular at 11 am. Love your influence on the music and the web site. What about the round of applause last Sunday! Well deserved. Now - about Father Anthony. Was that a joke? Has to be, surely! He is great and a very good influence on the ex-atheist, now Chritian I drag along each week. I think it would be a very good idea if the Church provided an Alpha course. What about it? It is an excellent lead in for non believers and is being done by all sorts of rather fringe churches.

I've found this website really interesting and will 'visit' regularly. I will take the opportunity to say how much I enjoyed last Sunday's 11.00 Mass, I attend this service each week, and thought that the choir was absolutly beautiful last week (23.7). I've also noticed that there always seems to be a greater response from the congregation when 'old favourite' hymns are chosen! Keep up the good work!

Many additions since I first looked last March. The site certainly has the WOW! factor - if there was a competition of church web sites, this one would surely win. Can we please have the House of Prayer featured - Sister Catherine has some existing photographs taken by Phil Tatt. More people need to know about it and how privileged we are to be able to have Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament daily.

Please will you put on the weekly calendar that SVP meets every Monday night at the Priory at 7.30 pm - but not Bank Holiday Mondays. Next meeting 10 April following meeting 8 May. We are always looking for people to help us in our work - mainly visiting the housebound in Eltham. There are other local difficulties needing help - single parent families. Did have a request to help find furniture for refugee family in Greenwich, but passed that on to Greenwich contact.
