Caring for Incapacitated ParishionersSick members of the parish are visited regularly by the priests, deacon, parish Sister, and ministers of the Eucharist; and Holy Communion is brought to them in their own homes, in Residential and Nursing Homes, and in the hospitals. Because of the present state of the law, when elderly people living alone are suddenly taken to hospital the Church may not be informed. Parishioners are encouraged to carry on them a card stating their wish to see a priest if they are taken ill and for their nursing care to include fluids, however administered. The priests also visit the Residential and Nursing Homes in turn to say Mass for the Catholic residents. St Anselm's weekly newsletter carries the names of sick parishioners who have asked for prayers; and neighbourly help and friendship are offered to those in need. |
