St. Anselm's Youth Group

The St. Anselm's Youth Group has been re-established.

With the help of Fr. William and some other volunteers some of the confirmandi from the last few years have founded a new Youth Group. Membership is open to anyone 14 or older who has completed their confirmation.

Recent Activity

The Youth Group have been fund raising to go on a weekend retreat.

On Saturday 20th November 2004 they held their first fund-rasing event, a Soup and Roll Evening.
They turned the hall in the Coleburt Centre into a very chic bistro, complete with flowers and very professionally folded napkins (appropriately shaped like a Bishop's mitre). They waited at table properly attired (see below). A room full of people enjoyed a choice of soups and rolls, followed by cheese and biscuits and tea and coffee. All for £2.50 (a bargain). The evening was rounded off with a Raffle of various goodies, ranging from a huge fluffy stuffed dog, a basket of fruit, and a box of Maltesers to various bottles of wine and champagne, tee shirt and baseball cap. Most families present won something (except me! - Ed). A good time was had by all, and the diners were keen for the youth group to do it again.

On Saturday 1st October 2005 they held another fund-rasing event, a Pasta Evening.
Once again they transformed the hall in the Coleburt Centre, this time into an Italian trattoria, complete with tricolore flags, live accordion music and occasional dancing. Waiting at table properly attired, they served a room full of peoplewho enjoyed a selection of delicious pasta dishes. The evening was rounded off with a Raffle of various goodies, in which most families present won something (including me this time! - Ed). A good time was had by all.

In 2006 the Youth Group visited Lourdes.

For Christmas 2006 the Youth Group organised a Christmas Party for the children of the parish. Games, music and other activities were complemented by some party food. To help the aftrenoon along, Santa dropped in to see the children and give them each a present. A Raffle was held for a large teddy and some of her friends.
