Parish Mission Pledge

There is the need for each parish to have a lay Child Protection Representative who will ensure that diocesan policies and procedures are known and followed. This involves following up references in respect of paid or volunteer positions in regular contact with children, young people or vulnerable adults, arranging checks and ensuring the confidentiality and safe keeping of records.

It is important to emphasise that the welfare and safety of children, young people and vulnerable adults is the responsibility of all parish members. The aim must be to create as safe an environment as possible for these members of the parish and those who work with them.

Our parish has a child protection policy based on Diocesan guidelines covering child protection in the Parish. All people who wish to work within the Parish with children or vulnerable adults have to complete a form. The policy shows that we greatly care for our children and vulnerable adults and that we take their protection seriously because we as a parish community, so often take the place of parents or those looking after someone.
