Our Mission Statement

We are first of all a Eucharistic community, centred on Christ, without whom we will get nowhere. We, all of us, have something to share with each other (and pass on), to discover ever more about our faith. And too we are evangelisers: Christ is Saviour of everyone.

8. Year of Faith. The primary source of our faith is Jesus and his Gospel, but a very good secondary source is the Catechism, with which in this Year of Faith we can work through all that we believe. The most wonderful and the deepest of all mysteries is that God is Father, and Son and Holy Spirit. If He were solitary God, He could not love, but in the amazing unity of the Blessed Trinity God is love, and with love He works: thus, the Son becomes human and our Saviour (from love); thus, the Spirit is given to us to inspire, lead and strengthen us (from love). And we can only be amazed at the utter perfection of God, exploring Him a bit only. (When St Augustine thought he was near to 'cracking this mystery, an angel appeared as a little boy with a shell and told Augustine he was going to put the sea into the hole he had made on the beach; Augustine realised he was trying for too much too.

Street Pastors is a nationwide project where Christians are reaching out to those in need. As many people do not want to go into a church, we take the church to them, where they are: on the streets of our towns and cities, Our stated aim is to bring peace and calm to the streets, and we do this by activating our Mission Statement, which is Caring, Listening and Helping. We endeavour to demonstrate God's love to all those we meet, by our actions, not by preaching. We remember the words of St Francis of Assisi, 'Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words'. If you feel you may have a calling to this ministry, and for more information, please call David Banks on 07941 452629.

Are you/and or your family registered? There are all sorts of reasons for your benefit and that of the parish that everyone be registered. See Fr Paul.

New baptisms: Talk to Fr Paul or phone Anthea Heywood or Kathy Ball, via the parish office. And welcome to Santiago Quintal and Jonny Casey who were baptised here last Sunday and who became part of the Church.
