Father Luke

Reverend Canon Anthony Verhees, or simply Father Luke, comes from Holland and was ordained in Rome on 8th December 1954.

After his studies he came to England in 1959 and settled in the Borough parish of The Most Precious Blood until 1971.

He then became curate in Sutton at Our Lady of the Rosary parish and did a lot of the spadework for what is now the parish of the Holy Family in Sutton Green.

In 1978 he became Parish Priest at St. Francis de Sales in Stockwell and in 1989 he succeeded Canon Albert Ryan as Parish Priest of Holy Cross in Carshalton.
