Knights of Saint Columba The K.S.C. is an organization of men of all ages whose aim is to reach out the caring hand of Christ to others. Our forty strong K.S.C. group meet in the parish centre once a month. It is not a single parish organization, but draws its members from several local parishes. The K.S.C. is world-wide. The work they do is vast and includes helping the 'down and outs' in London's cardboard city by collecting and supplying them with warm clothing and distributing food to them. They are strong supporters of the annual pilgrimage to Hosanna House in Lourdes led by Father Luke. The K.S.C. also have an enthusiastic Youth Section. The K.S.C. pride themselves on a long tradition of support to local parishes, deanery and to the Diocese. The chaplain for the local branch at Holy Cross is Father Luke. The K.S.C. meet in the Parish Centre on the second Wednesday of the month. This is preceded by a Mass at 7.45pm. |

Union of Catholic Mothers The main purpose of the UCM is not to do things but to be a support group for one another and the Parish. Our group at Holy Cross
meet every third Wednesday in the month usually at 8pm at the curch.
The group has a Mass once a quarter. The activities include: social
evenings with speakers, invovlement in Summer and Christmas Fairs and
catering for First Holy Communion and Confirmation. Here is an opportunity
to make new friends. Non-Catholics and single ladies are also welcome
to join. |

St. Vincent de Paul Society Our conference consists of both men and women who aim to offer the companionship of a caring presence. Our members visit the elderly, sick and housebound people in their own homes, in community homes and in hospitals. Some provide transport to and from the church and whenever possible to surgeries and clinics. A modest amount of financial help may be given according to circumstances and the resources of the conference. A recent development has
been 'Sunday for the Sick', when people who are normally housebound are
taken to church for Mass and a special blessing, followed by refreshments
afterwards. The S.V.P. meetings are held on alternate Fridays in the Presbytery,
beginning at 7pm and lasting for about an hour. |
