Accelerated Reading Program

Holy Ghost School participates in the Reading Renaissance Accelerated Reading Progam. The students have made great gains in reading independently through the Accelerated Reader and Reading Renaissance Programs. In order to insure each child's continuous porgress, the following Summer Reader Goals are recommended for all students.

Non independent readers	Read for 1 hour a day. This may be at different times for a total of 1 hr.
	Read 50 different books
	Record book titles on the Student Reading Log as Read To (RT), Read with (RW), or Read Independently (RI). Our students continue to make great gains toward the school-wide independent reading goal. All students will read and comprehend at or above grade level.
	Record books on the Student Reading Log and return to school in the Fall.
	Parents sign Student Reading Log Daily.
Independent Readers	Read for a minimum of 1 hour a day.
	Reach your first quarter point goal by the time you return to school in the Fall.
	Take Accelerated Reading Quizzes in the Holy Ghost Computer Lab this first week of school.
	Record books on the Student Reading Log. Return log when you return to school in the Fall.
	Parents sign Student Reading Log.
Looking for AR Quizzes	If you need to check if there is an AR Quiz for a book, follow these steps:
	1. Go to the Renaissance Learning site.
	2. Click on the "Store" tab at the top right of the page.
	3. Click on the "Quiz Store" tab at the top of the page.
	4. Type in the title or author in the box and click "Go".
	If Renaissance Learning has the quiz, it will appear - otherwise it will say "No Matches Found" and you can ask Mrs. Sedillo to order the quiz.

Book List

Beginning in August 2005 students have access to all Accelerated reader comprehension and vocabulary quizzes.

Parents and students can go on-line to determine if a quiz is currently in the school system. The librarian orders AR quizzes regularly for students which then become available to all Holy Ghost Students.
