History:

Cañoncito ws originally known as "El Cañoncito de Nuanes" after a Salvador Nuanes and his family who lived in the village.  Cañoncito’s San Lorenzo Church was built in the 1870s. The feast day of the patron saint, San Lorenzo, is celebrated in August.
