Ministries and organizations
The Pastoral Staff is the decision making group of St. Gabriel. Using the collaborative ministry model, it works with the pastor in implementing the parish mission statement and is responsible to him, as he is responsible to the various Archdiocesan heads of departments and ultimately to the Archbishop of San Francisco. The Pastoral Staff meets weekly.
The Council meets in Quinn Center at 7:30 the second Tuesday of every month except July, August and December. The St. Gabriel Pastoral Council, united with Christ will serve and represent the parish community. As an advisory body to the Pastor and Pastoral staff, the Council will assist in discerning and responding to the needs of the parish. In doing so, their goal is to enable every member of the parish to come to the fullness of their Christian vocation. Visitors are welcome.
The Youth Group meets Sundays in the Upper Room after the 5:30 pm Mass. All 9th to 12th graders are welcome. This program provides these young parishioners with spiritual, emotional and social support by sponsoring a wide variety of exciting activities throughout the year and into the summer months. Contact Yasmine Kury through the Parish Center office.
Young Adult Ministry
Community dedicated to providing fellowship and spiritual growth of young adult singles and couples age 21 to mid-30s through service, social, and spiritual activities. Through these activities we create opportunities to build friendships, learn from our diversity, and grow in our faith.
The athletic program seeks to encourage the physical and emotional growth of Saint Gabriel parish students by offering a sports program that teaches school and parish spirit, teamwork and sportsmanship. The program is open to all children in grades 1 through 8. Girls and boys in grades 1 and 2 can participate in soccer and baseball. Girls in grades 3 though 8 can participate in volleyball, soccer, basketball, and baseball. Boys in grades 3 through 8 can participate in soccer, basketball, and baseball. Almost 500 parish children participate in the program each year. The program is overseen by a Board, consisting of six members, who meet the second Monday each month. Contact Mike Wilbur or Craig Graber through the Parish Center office.
The mission of this committee is to make the Parish aware of the need for vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life and to help our youth make their decision on how they, as children of God, may best work in His Kingdom. This group sponsors several events that encourage vocations, such as World Day of Prayer and Priesthood Sunday. They meet on the second Saturday of the month, after the 9am mass, in the Quinn Center. Contact Father John Ryan or Deacon Tom Reardon through the Parish Center office.
This group meets quarterly to advise the pastor on the parish's fiscal matters. The committee is responsible to prepare and to monitor the parish budget. This committee is mandated by the Code of Cannon Law. The chairperson for this committee is Mike Woo.
This group meets quarterly to advise the pastor and oversee the overall upkeep and maintenance of the parish plant. Contact Dan Maguire through the Parish Center office.
This committee meets 7:30-9pm the first Monday of the month in Quinn Center. The Liturgy committe and various subcommittes and service groups plan liturgical celebrations that will promote authentic liturgical and sacramental celebrations among the people of God in the belief that public worship in the Parish will integrate, motivate, and renew the community and its members and deepen the faith life of each person.
