WHISPERING WINDS ACTIVITY SCHEDULE

Dear Friends of Whispering Winds,

On this the 2nd Anniversary of when the Cedar Fires destroyed over half the
Camp, I couldn't help reflect on today's 1st reading (Eph 2:19-22) "Brothers
and sisters: You are no longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow
citizens with the holy ones and members of the household of God, built upon
the foundation of the Apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as
the cornerstone. Through him the whole structure is held together and grows
into a temple sacred in the Lord; in him you also are being built together
into a dwelling place of God in the Spirit."

Please join us for some spiritually-uplifting events listed below.

May God's Hand continue to bless Whispering Winds; may our lives continue to
Glorify Him, and may your families be filled with Christ's love this
Thanksgiving & Advent season as we prepare for our Savior.

Yours In Christ,

John Sperrazzo, Executive Director
Whispering Winds Catholic Camp & Conference Center

HURRICANE KATRINA!! HOW CAN YOU HELP? by Cursillista Barry La Forgia

International Relief Teams (IRT), in partnership with UCSD Medical Center,
has sponsored a 30 person specialized medical team (DMAT) that left on
Saturday night (Aug 27) to Texas, pre-positioned to LSU campus yesterday
morning (Aug 30), and traveled last night to the New Orleans airport where
the team is now providing emergency medical services for evacuees and others
being rescued from shelters and buildings within the city.

IRT will also be sending additional medical personnel as necessary.
Construction volunteers will be sent into the affected areas after the
waters recede and homeowners return, to help low income homeowners w/o
insurance repair/rebuild.  Because of the extensive poverty in the region,
this will be a massive effort that will go on for many years!!

Cash donations to support IRT's disaster relief efforts for the victims of
Hurricane Katrina can be sent to: International Relief Teams, 3547 Camino
del Rio South, Suite C, San Diego, CA 92108 or online at IRT's secure
website: www.irteams.org . International Relief Teams has earned a 4-star
rating (the highest level) from the Charity Navigator, America's largest
charity evaluator ( www.charityNavigator.org ).
Volunteers (skilled and unskilled) wishing to help with relief and
reconstruction efforts should call IRT's office at 619-284-7979.

PRAYER REQUEST

Please take a few minutes to pray for the following........

*****

The daughter of Sophie and Art Esparza, longtime Cursillaistas (the king and
queen of fiesta!), Gina Thrush, is undergoing surgery on Monday to remove a
malignant mass from her leg.  She has two small children and just recently
separated from her husband.  Please put her on the prayer network. ( I DID
give Sophie my advise, that "worry is the closest thing to atheism"!) Mike
Daniels

Lillian Khamisa Beda nearly drowned this past summer.  She is out of the
induced coma, breathing on her own, being fed through a tube directly to the
stomach, and cannot communicate.  She is being evaluated Oct. 26 to see if
she can receive more extensive physical therapy.  She seemed to get excited
as she heard discussions of the possibility of her returning home, so it
appears she has cognitive ability.  Her parents are eager to have her come
home, saying, "We can take her to church."!

Kurt is humbled by her (Sudanese immigrant) parents' faith and hope.  They
are not shying away from her condition.  He asks especially for prayers for
her parents.  He adds, "All healing comes from God, but also pray for those
who take care for her."

Thanks to our Lord for His Grace, Mercy and Peace.  Lois Gubitosi

Thanks for prayers for Kathy Lima's brother. Thanks Tupperware and Cursillo
sisters in the Lord. Please read her message. Now I need prayers. I am
having an EMG tomorrow (Sat) where they put electrodes in my body to see how
much damage or loss of feeling I have due to my impingement of my spine. It
will be at 10:45 in the morning. Also my 34 year old daughter Bernadette is
having a hysterectomy on Friday and is kind of apprehensive. Please remember
us in your prayers as well as my Tupperware consultant Martha Banker's
son-in-law who was burned on his leg and is being hospitalized for they may
have to do skin grafting. His name is Mike. My prayers for each one of you.

Please add to the prayer list, Bea Gonzales a friend of mine who has a brain
tumor and is not doing well. Also add my daughter Cristina Aguilar for her
health. Thank you, Chelita Flores

prison, in your prayers. Rick Melrose

information can be updated, please email me at

Prayer for Evelyn Rowe a friend of mine from San Jose. She's a diabetic and
has an infection in her leg. They have cut the leg open to let it drain but
if it doesn't show signs of healing very soon they will have to amputate her
leg. She is a devote Christian but also has some dementia thanks, Gloria

Please pray for Dominic Jagers, brother of one of our newest Cursillistas,
Sarah Jagers. He is very ill with Crone's Disease. He is an adult, and has
had to move in with his parents so they can care for him. He has suffered
dramatic weight loss, and is in great pain. It is an intestinal disease, and
at the moment there are ulcers all inside of him, which leaves him unable to
eat or digest properly. Please pray for him and his family. Thank you,
Janelle Buckley #233

Please pray for Troy Peckham who is suffering from bone cancer in his leg.
His knee will be replaced in hopes of cure or remission. Troy is on the
Rancho Bernardo Soccer Team and is 13 years old. There will be two soccer
games in RB to raise funds for the family, one at 6 PM and the other at 7:30
PM tonight. Troy's soccer coach is Michael Gentry who is Gay-Anita's son.

who is hospitalized in intensive care.

Hello!

A fellow Cursillista is having shoulder surgery in December and she lives
alone and has no relatives living in the area.  She is a Parishioner of Mary
Star of the Sea and lives in the La Jolla/San Diego area.  She is looking
for someone who could help her dress and clean up and other daily duties
that are required.  She will have a sling for about 8-9 weeks after the
surgery.  Does anyone know of anyone who could do something like this?  I
can be reached at 858-490-8320, Leticia
