 The program being
offered for our pre-school
and kindergarten children is called
“Catechesis of
the Good Shepherd”. It is a way of religious formation
for children that is quite different from traditional programs.
Its
approach to the religious formation of the child is rooted
in the Bible,
the liturgy of the church and the
educational principles of Maria
Montessori.
It does not use a
catechetical series of books or take place
in a traditional classroom
setting. There is a room prepared
for the children in which every
object is a help to knowing God.
The room is called an Atrium and it is
a place of simplicity,
order, prayer, community and work. The work is
appropriate
to the ages and sizes of the children gathered.
The atrium
allows the children to come in contact
with scripture, the liturgy,
church tradition, and sacred history.
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd sessions are
held on
Sunday from 10:00 a.m. - 10:50 a.m.
