Peacemaker Award Potluck
Every
fall MICPJ presents a Peacemaker Award at a potluck dinner.
Because
of our theme for 2009 we have decided not to have a Peacemaker Award potluck.
The
Council established ten themes to correlate with the United Nations Decade of Non-violence
2001-2010. Listed below are the themes for the ten years. Those that are
completed have links to the articles and other information pertaining to that
theme. In all cases individuals and families are encouraged to gather in groups
to discuss peace and nonviolence. It is hoped that action will flow out of the
dialogue which will change hearts and create a more aware, loving and kind
community. From this, ripples of peace will flow out to the broader world.
2001 Family/Individual Nonviolence as a way of life
2002 Slowing down … quiet/listening/reflection: A culture of Peace
2003 Meaningful work: Source of dignity and nonviolence in our world
2004 The value and good of political life
2005 Twenty-first century living
2006 Environmental Justice: Water
2007 International Living: The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
2008-2009 Elimination of nuclear weapons
Dick Skochdopole is chairing the Committee to develop the
theme. Members of the Committee include Nan Skochdopole,
Jeanne/Colin Broddle, Jeanne Schaller, Evelyn/Frank
Hudson and Dorothy Arthur. All MICPJ
members are cordially invited to join this committee. Email Dick to find out their schedule of
meetings and how you can help. Because of the gravity of this subject it is a
two year project.
Go to 2008 to read about what we have already done and
have planned. See Upcoming Event above for November 8 event.
