The Midland Interfaith Council for Peace and Justice (MICPJ) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting peace and justice in the Midland area. It  is a group of people of many ages and faith traditions including: Baha'i, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, and the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. The Council has created themes as part of the UN decade-long effort  of peace and nonviolence for the children of the world.  The Council develops the themes through public  programs and the presentation of  an annual Peacemaker Award,.

Please check out the Inspiration page and reflect on what it means to be non-violent. There are some inspiring words there, a prayer, and a Peace Pledge.

Meetings of the Council are held on an irregular basis about four times a year. If you are interested in joining MICPJ or coming to a meeting please contact us. We would love to have you if you are interested in promoting peace and justice in our world. The minutes of the last meeting are posted on this website.

Themes:

The Council established ten themes to correlate with the United Nations Decade of Non-violence 2001-2010. Listed below are the themes for the ten years. Those that are completed have links to the articles and other information pertaining to that theme. In all cases individuals and families are encouraged to gather in groups to discuss peace and nonviolence. It is hoped that action will flow out of the dialogue which will change hearts and create a more aware, loving and kind community. From this, ripples of peace will flow out to the broader world.

2002 Slowing down … quiet/listening/reflection: A culture of Peace

2003 Meaningful work: Source of dignity and nonviolence in our world
