The Midland Interfaith Council for Peace and Justice (MICPJ) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting peace and justice in the Midland area. It  is a group of people of many ages and faith traditions including: Baha'i, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, and the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. The Council has created themes as part of the UN decade-long effort  of peace and nonviolence for the children of the world.  The Council develops the themes through public  programs and the presentation of  an annual Peacemaker Award,.

  Please check out the Inspiration page and reflect on what it means to be non-violent. There are some inspiring words there, a prayer, and a Peace Pledge.

 

  The Council is nearing the end of its ten year venture into promoting peace and non-violence for the benefit of the children of the world. Forum articles for 2010 are posted on this site. A final celebration will be held on October 10. See details below.

Themes:

 

The Council established ten themes to correlate with the United Nations Decade of Non-violence 2001-2010. Listed below are the themes for the ten years. Those that are completed have links to the articles and other information pertaining to that theme. In all cases individuals and families are encouraged to gather in groups to discuss peace and nonviolence. It is hoped that action will flow out of the dialogue which will change hearts and create a more aware, loving and kind community. From this, ripples of peace will flow out to the broader world.

2010 Children

TRIDGE GATHERING

Sunday, October 10, 2:00-4:00

Come join us in grateful celebration for the good work being done for and with children and families.  Linda Z. Smith will lead us across the Tridge to Chippewassee Park where there will be face painting, dancing, peace pole painting and other activities.     This gathering is free and all are encouraged to come.  

 

YOUTH POETRY CONTEST

Area youth are invited to submit poems on nonviolence or peace.  John Palen will judge the entries. Deadline:  September 30th.   Winner to be announced at Tridge gathering.
