"We persevered in Rome, not despite our being Filipino, but probably even because of it: our patience, prayerfulness and humor kept us optimistic and generous."

The Great Jubilee of the Year 2000 brought many Filipino pilgrims to Rome.

Welcoming and serving the pilgrims, however, did not take the attention of the Philippine Embassy to the Holy See and of Sentro Pilipino from the hundreds of Filipino priests, consecrated persons and seminarians already in the Eternal City.

They organized the
Jubilee of Filipino Priests, Religious and Seminarians in Rome in Pontificio Collegio Filippino on 26 February 2000 "to celebrate the gift of vocation to the priesthood and to consecrated life in the Philippine context". It brought together around 400 ordained and consecrated persons, who appreciated the opportunity of meeting and encouraging each other as only Filipinos could.

In 2001, three Filipino entities in Rome celebrated milestones: the 50th anniversary of the Philippine Embassy to the Holy See, the 40th anniversary of the Pontificio Collegio Filippino, and the 10th anniversary of the Sentro Pilipino. One of the activities of this
Festival of Jubilees was the Reunion of Filipino Priests, Religious and Seminarians in Rome on 25 February 2001. It was during this Reunion that the Association of Filipino Priests, Religious and Seminarians in Rome and Italy was formed.
