We Remember, We Celebrate, We Believe

The Vision and Mission of the St. Mark Faith Formation Program

OUR VISION

Our vision is that the members of this community have opportunities to know the salvation story: God loving us in Jesus, Jesus loving us with the Holy Spirit and the Spirit loving us through the Roman Catholic Church.  Once we know the story, it is our vision that we have prayerful gatherings in which to come to know Christ, and in knowing Him, we leave those gatherings empowered to spread the Good News that the Reign of God is at hand.

OUR MISSION

We remember: We are committed to teaching Jesus' life, death, resurrection and call to build the Kingdom of God as it has been preserved, handed on and directed by the Roman Catholic Church.  We recall the power of the Word to transform, the power of tradition to preserve and enliven and the power of teachings of our Church to provide a beacon for us.  We seek to serve God's people at each age level with appropriate prayer, catechesis and example, for we remember Jesus' words: "Do this in memory of me."

We celebrate: We are committed to the liturgical rhythm or our Church to provide us focus and context for faith formation.  Within that rhythm we believe in the power of prayer, reconciliation, the communion of saints living and dead, and most of all, of the Eucharist, to form us into Christ's followers.  We seek to share sacramental moments with one another and to prepare individuals, families and the community to meet Christ in these events.  We celebrate the gift of life through playing together, thus building a community of care and concern.

We believe: We believe that the Lord intends his Church to be a place of love and learning, of soul-searching and service, of life amid suffering and death, of safety amid violence.  We believe that we have been called to hand on this version of the Kingdom through the power of the Holy Spirit.  And, we believe that it is always God who is at work through us.
