The Central Virginia Cursillo Center (CVCC) is one of 5 Cursillo Centers in the Richmond Diocese. We are centered in Richmond, Virginia; and our boundaries are from New Kent County in the east to Farmville in the west and from Ladysmith in the north to South Hill in the south. The other 4 regions in Virginia are, Hampton Roads, Blue Ridge, the Valley, and Southwest.

The CVCC holds 4 Cursillo weekends per year, two for men and two for women. Three Cursillo weekends are currently held at Mary Mother of the Church Abbey on River Road and one is held at Sacred Heart church on route 460 at exit 3a on route 295. Each Cursillo weekend begins on a Thursday evening and ends on Sunday evening; the candidates, persons making the weekend for the first time, are cloistered during this time.

For persons who know little about a Cursillo weekend, it should be understood that the weekend is not a quiet retreat, nor is there time for recreation. Instead, the Cursillo weekend encompasses a full schedule of activities including lay and ordained talks, discussion, private and communal prayer, great music, fun, and FOOD. Eucharistic liturgy is celebrated daily and reconciliation is provided. This is a joyous weekend in the environment of a living within Christian community.

Ultreyas within the CVCC are held twice a month; always on a Friday. On the first Friday, they are held in the immediate Richmond area and northward, and on the third Friday, they are held at parishes south and west of Richmond.
Twice a year on, a Saturday morning, a training session is held at Epiphany Catholic Church, one of the parishes in Richmond Diocese, from 8:30 am to 12:00 noon, for those that have made a Cursillo weekend to have the opportunity to learn about the Cursillo method, as well as the what’s and why’s of a Cursillo Weekend.
Additionally, the CVCC has an Intranet Site to assist in keeping the CVCC Community Informed. Access to the CVCC Intranet Site is by invitation and is only open to persons who have made a Cursillo weekend.
