PROTECTING GOD'S CHILDREN
This is a program adopted by
the Diocese of Reno in response to the pedophilia scandal.
One of the aims is to inform staff and parents of ways to protect children from abuse.
This
program is mandated for all paid staff members, including clergy, and all volunteers who
work regularly with children. Those who definitely need to attend have received a
letter
stating this. These sessions are open to anyone interested in this serious
situation.
All the awareness sessions for "Protecting God's Children" are listed on the
Reno Diocese website www.catholicreno.org
You are welcome to attend any session, but please register with the hosting parish.
The above website has much information on the Diocese, please visit it.
SUPPORT GROUPS
Journey Together (if you have
lost a loved one) and One Day At A Time (for those with cancer)
are support groups that Sr. Marie facilitates. She will continue them, but you need
to call
her for an appointment, as they will not be at regular designated times as they were in
the past.
Please call Sr. Marie at 882-1968 to set up an appointment.
ENGAGED COUPLES PROGRAM
We are in need of some
volunteer couples in good marriages to be part of our Engaged Couples
program. You will meet about six times a year with an engaged couple, using a
prepared program,
as they go through our pre-marriage process. You must be practicing, registered
members of this
parish who believe in marriage and want to pass that on. Married couples fluent
in Spanish are
especially needed. Call the parish office, 882-1968, and leave your name and
phone number.
