Apostolic Community
Our life lived together is known as an Apostolic Community.
This is where community prayer, day to day
living, companionship and ministry are integrated,
so that how we live, what we say and how we treat others is one and the
same. In this spirit, each community seeks to be close to people,
to be friendly, inviting,
welcoming, so as to be a powerful witness
of the presence of God.
Each person is respected as an
individual and together the faith, hope and
love of each person is challenged and deepened
through times of sharing, working and living
with each other.
Prayer and the Eucharist are central to our community life.
From these we touch the meaning and purpose of our
living and working together. We also invite people
to share in our prayer and Eucharist wherever
possible.
Mission
Our community is a missionary one.
We live together for the sake of our mission and our
life is focused on the people
we are called to serve.
To help us in our mission, Redemptorists live a vowed life
of obedience, poverty and chastity. The vows,
with their freedom as well as their cost, help us to respond fully by directing
our focus and energy to those we serve.
Where We Live
Redemptorists have
communities in most States of Australia -
some are monasteries
with public churches and retreat
houses; some are smaller communities
in suburban settings; some are in parishes;
others in a community of Lay people and Religious.
Most Redemptorists live in different communities at different times of their
life.
