fOUR NEW BISHOP

Father Fernando Isern, a priest of the Archdiocese of Miami, was appointed our Bishop,succeeding Bishop Arthur Tafoya, 76, whose resignation due to age was accepted by the Pope. Bishop-elect Isern, 51, a native of Havana, Cuba, was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Miami in 1993. He has served in a variety of pastoral and educational posts since his ordination. Bishop-elect Isern holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Florida International University, Miami. He attended St. John Vianney College Seminary in Miami and St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach, Florida. His episcopal ordination and installation will take place on December 10, 2009. Please pray for him as he prepares to shepherd our diocese. There is more information posted in the Narthez.

BISHOP TAFOYA "OPEN HOUSE" RECEPTION

There will be an opportunity to personally thank Bishop Tafoya for his 29 years of service to the Diocese of Pueblo on Friday, Nov. 20, 2009 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the      Cathedral Gym, 1001 N. Grand Ave. Everyone is invited to stop in and share their warm wishes. For those unable to attend, you may send a card or note of thanks and these will be presented to the Bishop at the reception. Send cards to Bishop Tafoya, c/o the Catholic Foundation, 1001 N. Grand Ave., Pueblo, CO 81003.

PARISH RAFFLE! In an effort to meet all of the needs for our Christian formation program, we are instituting a raffle this year. There will be  52 chances to win. There will be one $100 drawing each weekday for 10 weeks and two $500 special drawings on the Church grounds, one at our Parish Picnic, September 13th, 2009 and one on our Feast Day, November 21, 2009. Only 2500 tickets will be sold. For further details, please see the information printed on the tickets. There is an envelope in the back of the church containing 3 tickets for each family to sell to others or buy themselves. If you do not find an envelope with your name or if you need additional tickets, please stop by the office during the week to pick them up. You might be one of the lucky winners!

ADULT ENRICHMENT

As adult Catholics we are encouraged to make the journey of faith a lifelong
conversion of the whole person. How do we do this? We stay informed through our education program called  “Adult Enrichment.” Please see our

Our fall and winter 2 part sessions  (the second part is during Lent) Longing for the Holy is included in our Adult Enrichment 2009 brochure.
It also has your first Saturday of the month  5:30 PM sessions

Envelope Information
People who use only one envelope a month can use the lower half of their contribution information and their mailing envelope to make their contribution either by mail or the collection basket.
Those who wish to donate weekly and did not pick up their packet at the beginning of the year, need to come to the office and pick up a weekly envelope packet for the rest of the year as these are not mailed.

      Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament

We  have the Servants of the Blessed Sacrament in Pueblo. Please think about participating in their Eucharistic Adoration Program. They are in need of participants for this wonderful  program. This is a unique opportunity to grow spiritually. We are so fortunate to have an Adoration Program available to us. Try it. Bishop Tafoya has invited six Contemplative Sisters, Capuchin Poor Clares, to live in Pueblo. Those who wish to make special prayer requests may contact them at 806 East B. Street, 81003. If possible, please enclose a small donation to assist them in with their living expenses.
