Biographical Information
In Our Parish
The St. Vincent dePaul Conference of St.
Bartholomew Parish has helped hundreds of families of
Parishioners and non-Parishioners throughout the years. The
Conference occupies an important place in the life of our Parish.
It is through the Conference that our Pastor Fr. Joe Pranzo, and
the members care for the needy among us.
Wherever we go we find those who are in need of assistance for
rent, heat, electricity, gas, water food and clothing to name
just a few. That need is often the result of illness or accident
to the wage earner of a family. Sometimes it is unemployment or
improvident living, even sin.
Whatever the cause, we cannot close our eyes to starving
children, or permit Families to be broken up, or the aged
neglected. We are there to help, today, and with your continued
help and assistance, we will be there tomorrow.
The Society History
The St. Vincent dePaul Society is not only a
relief organization, it is a Spiritual Society whose members
Sanctify their own lives by serving and assisting and
administering to the poor and unfortunate.
The SVDP Society is the oldest Lay Catholic organization in our
country. The first Conference was founded in 1833 in Paris,
France by Frederick Ozanam, a devout Catholic Layman. In 1845 the
organization came to the U.S. when a Conference was started in
St. Louis, Missouri, followed two years later by a Conference in
New York
We thank God for the dedication of our founder Blessed Frederick
Ozanam and pray constantly for his Canonization to Sainthood.
