Feast of St. Anthony

Dear Parishioners, Benefactors and Friends,

It is with great joy that I invite you to participate in the upcoming Jubilee Year marking our historic 100th Anniversary as a parish community of Faith. As we prepare to embark on this wonderful journey of the heart", we will need your fervent prayers and remarkable enthusiasm.

The theme of this spiritual year will be, "A Century of Faith and Service!" No other words could so fittingly describe our proud history and our exciting future in the Lord. Preparations have already begun in coordinating a year4ong calendar of events for you and your family.

Our Jubilee year will open on Saturday, September 23, 2006 with a Mass at 5:00 p.m. The homilist will be Rev. Stephen Almagno, OFM. The Mass will be followed by an "Oldies" Dinner-Dance in our church hall at 6:30 p.m.

Our anniversary year of celebration will conclude with a Solemn Mass on Sunday, October 21, 2007 celebrated by His Excellency Bishop Thomas Tobin followed by a reception in our church hall. The Jubilee Gala Dinner-Dance will be held the evening before, on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the West Valley Inn.

The goal for this l00th Anniversary Year is simple. We wish to provide all of our parishioners with an opportunity to appreciate the rich heritage of their Catholic faith, increase family participation in parish sacramental life and give all of you the opportunity to revel in the proud history of the parish of St. Bartholomew.

It is our dream to extend this important invitation not only to the present members of our multi-cultural parish, but to former parishioners and school alumni who now 1ive around the country. We want to invite them to return to the roots of their Catholic faith and Education here at St. Bartholomew. Spread the word to your family and friends, classmates, and your "phone and pen pals." Everyone is invited to return for a year long celebration of "Faith and Service."

If there is anyone to whom this letter should be sent... no matter where they now live...give me their name and complete address with zip code and we will do the rest.

Finally, I ask you to pray to Our Blessed Lady and good St. Bartholomew that this year may be one of many graces for each of us as we grow ever closer to the Son of God and the King of the Apostles, Jesus.

Sincerely in the Lord,

Rev. Alfred P. Almonte, C.S.
Pastor

JUBILEE TAPESTRY

Often in the great cathedrals of medieval Europe, TAPESTRIES were commissioned to mark significant events In the history of a particular community or town. These cloth hangings served as colorful testaments to the faith and unity of the craftsmen and donors who gave their creativity and gifts toward the Church
The "YEAR OF JUBILEE" marking the 100th Anniversary of St. Bartholomew Parish is a significant event which celebrates a century of service and creative out-reach to the community of Providence/Cranston. Such an event warrants our own "JUBILEE TAPESTRY".
This "Great Cloth" will be displayed in our church throughout the entire Jubilee Year (2006-2007), proclaiming the unity of beliefs and values which have been the hallmark of St. Bartholomew Parish. In varying shades of blue it will consecrate our families to Mary, the Mother of God.
Those wishing to participate may give their $10.00 donation to the Tapestry Committee at the church entrance. You will, in turn, receive a 10 inch square piece of fabric to take home with you. On it you will place your family name and first names of the individual members of your family. When you return this cloth, it will be woven into various tapestries -- our "JUBILEE TAPESTRY".
Please follow the simple diretions on the reverse side of this flier and return your portion of the "JUBILEE TAPESTRY" no later than August 21,2006.
The Jubilee Tapestry will be blessed at a solemn Mass on September 23, 2006 at 500 PM as we officially open our YEAR OF CELEBRATIONS for the I00th Jubilee of St. Bartholomew Parish.
