Father Victor Sharrett, our pastor, along with the Pastoral Council, has created a Stewardship Committee for St. Patrick’s parish.
The stewardship concept involves our
thanksgiving to God for the gifts he has given to us both individually and
as a parish community. The purpose of this new initiative is to encourage a wider sharing among parishioners of their individual time, talents, and treasure.
Early last fall the pastoral council sponsored two meetings to discuss the stewardship concept with interested parishioners and to encourage volunteers to become active with the new stewardship initiative.
Four parishioners attended a three-day international conference in Washington, D.C., in November to learn more about stewardship from representatives of parishes who have active stewardship ministries. The four St. Pat’s representatives to this conference were Mary Buffington, Marianne Kane, Sharen Resendes, and Rich McAdams.
These four parishioners met with the pastoral council in December to share their understanding of stewardship. A subsequent meeting with interested parishioners was held on January 29 to further explain the stewardship concept and to recruit additional volunteers to work in this ministry.
The first projects for the stewardship committee are in the areas of hospitality, welcoming and communications. This newsletter is one initiative in the area of communications. One purpose of this newsletter is to inform parishioners about various aspects of parish
stewardship.
