The
Pre-Jordan Classes at St. Patrick Church are for the special purpose of
preparing expectant parents for the baptism of their babies.
Participation by parents in this ministry is a prerequisite for a child's
baptism. Godparents are strongly encouraged to attend it at all
possible.
There
are two classes in the series, usually held on the second and third
Mondays of each month, except in August and December. Advance
registration is required and an be done by calling the parish
office. It is suggested that arrangements for attendance at the
Pre-Jordan Classes be made three months prior to the baby's due date.
Our
Pre-Jordan Classes ministry, in its present format, has been part of our
parish for 10 years. The classes are conducted by parishioners from
St. Patrick Church. The purpose of this ministry is to have the
prospective parents review their own faith and to help them to be ready to
share that faith with their child.
A major need for the
Pre-Jordan Classes ministry at this time is for more parishioners to
volunteer to help conduct the classes. Our Director of Religious
Education, Marianne Kane would be pleased to discuss what is entailed in
being a worker in this ministry. If you would like information,
please call Marianne at her office on weekdays at (610) 444-2214.
If
you are aware of any expectant parents, please share this stewardship of
time and talent by telling them about the Pre-Jordan Classes. If you
are expecting a baby who will be baptized at St. Patrick Church, call our
parish secretary, Rose Marie Oram, at (610) 444-4364, or the ministry's
contact family, Susan and Joe Casavant, at (610) 347-2912.
