Landings
is one of the more recent ministries established in our parish. It
came into existence about several years ago in response to a call by Father
Sharrett to invite inactive Catholics to return to their faith.
Eight caring men and women from St. Pat's attended the workshop and they
continue to be the core of the Landings Ministry.
The
purpose of this ministry is to help returning Catholics make a smooth
transition back into the Church. The group makes it comfortable for
participants by easing any fears or concerns a person may have.
Landings provides a small community in which individuals can comfortably
start on their way to once again become part of our larger faith
community.
Meetings
of this ministry are held in private homes. At these gatherings, the
workers follow the form prescribed by the Paulist Fathers, who began this
ministry about a decade ago in Washington State. The program
requires about eight to 10 meetings, which are scheduled at the
convenience of the participants. Gatherings are centered on prayer,
faith sharing of individuals' journey, a presentation on a contemporary
Catholic theme, and a break during the evening for refreshments and
socializing.
We
all can share this stewardship of time and talent by letting others know
about the ministry and encourage them to call for information. We
can also share in this stewardship by joining the present Landings
Ministry. For more information, please call Emil Skalicky at (610)
